Brajesh Kumar Tribunal water allocations of Krishna river water were contested by the Andhra Pradesh government and several others in the Supreme Court. The case came in front of the bench headed by Justice NV Ramana. He opined that it is improper for him to hear the case as he is also from the region. He requested the Chief Justice to allot the case to different bench. The case consequently has been postponed by four weeks for further hearing.

The second largest river in the country, Krishna flows through Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The water sharing has been a contentious issue since 1960s. The Brajesh Kumar Tribunal gave it’s final verdict on 29th November 2013. The AP government went to SC objecting to the award provisions.
