Kurnool man has ‘Bombay Blood group’

A man in Kurnool district has the rare blood group- called “Bombay blood group”, according to reports. This is rare as only one in every 20,000 people will have it, doctors said. The man- Benzamin, a resident of Parumanchala village of Jupadu Bangla mandal- has been asked to donate blood to his pregnant wife, who was anemic. Doctors at the government hospital identified it as Bombay Blood Group and informed the same to the “Sankalp India” –which is founded to connect people of this rare blood group. Technically it is now termed the (hh) type of blood- which can accept blood from other hh type and not the general or universal groups like A, B, AB, AO and O.
Extensive inbreeding within the same lineage or close-community marriages often lead to this symptom of hh group, according to a report.
