Lawyers-students scuffle at Patiala court

court-peshi in patiyalaLawyers and students engaged in a scuffle at the Patiala court premises when Kanhaiya Kumar, Student Union President of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) was produced in the court.

JNU teachers and students supporting Kumar charged that they were manhandled and forced out of court by lawyers shouting slogans – “Long Live India, down with JNU”.

According to reports TV Today reporters Anusha Soni and Poonam Sharma were manhandled by protesting lawyers inside the Patiala House court. The reporters were pushed out of the court and their mobile phones were also snatched by the lawyers. Delhi Police constables present inside the court campus did little to stop the lawyers from resorting to violence.  Delhi BJP MLA OP Sharma and few others were also caught on camera attacking a person outside the court premises. Sharma denied thrashing anyone, but said that people who raise anti-India slogan should be punished.
