Stating that he had never aspired for power, Lokesh said-“ I never interfered in the functioning of government departments and never attended official meetings of the government. I never conducted cabinet meetings as reported in a section of the press. I was reluctant to take up the General Secretary post when it was first offered. I had to accept it since the seniors advised me that it is party’s decision and I should obey it. I would contest the polls if the party directed me to do so” he explained at a media meet, specially convened to declare the assets of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu’s family members.
He has also evaded questions whether he would join the ministry. It is party’s decision to take me or not, he said.
Mr Lokesh said that he never insulted Deputy Chief Minister N China Rajappa and what was reported in a vernacular daily is thoroughly baseless. “I was on the dais as I was presenting a report and he was among the people. He asked a question and I was replying. That photo was taken from TDP’s facebook page. What appeared in media was that I was scolding Mr Rajappa. We got the original video and checked what exactly was the content and there was nothing wrong. The media has maligned our image and the report published was totally wrong” he pointed out.
Mr Lokesh has made it clear that he never had any differences with his father. “I could not attend the party training session due to a back pain. My absence was attributed in some other way in the media which said “because of my differences with my father, I was away from the meetings”. This is unfair. Let me make it clear differences never crop up in our family. We regularly, at least once in a week, meet and spend time. If we are at different places, we meet through video conferencing” Mr Lokesh disclosed.
