On Friday a meeting was held in Khammam, the Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy said to the officers of TSRTC and the transport department to work in group to guide the road transport corporation on the path of profits.
In the meeting he said that 634 buses are operated from Khammam and made concern over the accidents of private vehicles. He pointed out that the RTC employees played a key role during the movement for a separate State of Telangana, for this TS CM has recently announced Telangana increment for RTC employees.
He said to ensure profits for RTC in all the 94 depots in Telangana State and pointed that the RTC was running in losses, the government was ensuring the people without imposing any burden on them and announced a meeting with managers of all RTC depots in the State very soon.
Abdul Mehimin, a Regional Transport officer said a special drive will be conducted to create awareness among the people that travel in RTC buses would ensure safety and comfort.
RTC Executive Director Purushottham Nayak said that the Khammam region of RTC was formed on November 18, 1994. He said every day 3 lakh passengers travel in 630 buses in Khammam region. The bus facility is currently being provided to 794 villages in the district. Still the bus facility needs to be extended to another 65 villages. Khammam Zilla Parishad Chairperson G Kavitha was also present.
Speaking to the media minister said the government has allocated Rs 150 crore for development of RTC.
The Minister also felicitated six RTC bus drivers who have completed 20 to 22 years of without cases of accidents
