Art of Living founder, spiritual guru Sri Sri Sri Ravi Shankar has been on a tour program called “Anugraha Yatra” across the country. He spoke to media on the occasion of starting the program in Andhra Pradesh from 15th morning. The yatra will happen on train and will go through the districts of Hyderabad to Tirupati to Kakinada and will come back to Hyderabad on the 19th of this month. The yatra is aimed at spreading awareness on 1) responsibility to Vote in elections, 2) To be respectable and protective towards girls, and that 3) everyone should plant & raise a tree.
Sri Ravi Shankar spoke on several issues on the occasion. He opined that every citizen should be conscious in his choice while voting, to not elect any corrupt, criminal or inexperienced person for office. The economic condition of the country is in dire straits, it is almost on ventilator, there is more than 1.4 trillion dollars worth money parked outside the country, which should be brought back. If a small nation like Sri Lanka can achieve more than 11% growth, why should India be lagging behind at just around 5%? The youth should vote for a better India, should volunteer for a better India, and should take oath that they will not encourage any sort of immorality in society. They should take a vow against bribery.
Reiterating his recent comment on prominent national leaders, Ravi Shankar said that he still believes that Modi has done good work in Gujarat, because he has seen it himself; he does not have an opinion on Rahul Gandhi because he has never met him, and finally, though “Arvind Kejriwal is an able man, he is inexperienced right now, he should focus on doing the given job well, looking at national politics will be a little too early for him and for the party.”
Speaking on the current, burning issue of Telangana, he said that “if the assembly unanimously passed a resolution against the division, it should be respected. Division should be aimed at prosperity, not to push back the society 50 years backwards. Such political action should happen to benefit both parties, not a clutch of politicians. I have sincere doubt if people are really asking for separation, I have doubt on even those persons who are agitating for ‘samikyandhra’… do they really want it? Looking at the deplorable incidents in the Parliament, I feel the government may be going a little too fast on this, what’s the hurry? I cannot comment on the use or validity of Article 3, I haven’t studied it well enough.”
Closing his meeting, he said that “the morality of the public and has gone down, they need to be woken up! We need leaders who serve, not rule. There is cheating everywhere, there is cheating in spirituality too, it cannot be ignored.”
Sri Ravi Shankar will be back in Hyderabad on the 19th of this month. He will address four large meetings at Proddutur, Tirupati, Mangalagiri and Kakinada; and also at several small gatherings along his way.
