Top leader of Maoists Ramakrishna Akkiraju alias RK, has moved the Hyderabad High Court demanding the safe release of her husband who, according to her, has been “in the grey hounds custody in Andhra Pradesh”. She moved a lunch motion habeas corpus petition and matter will be heard at 2:30 pm today.
His wife, Sirish, who lost her 25-year-old son Munna in the AOB encounter, has urged the police not to harm his husband and sought High Court’s intervention for the safety.
Several people’s organizations including Telangana Joint Action Committee chairman Prof Kodanda Ram, have urged the government to submit the top leader to the court.
It is widely believed that RK, who was also allegedly present at the Maoist plenary in Malkangiri district, was injured in the shootout and his body guards have whisked him way over their shoulders. Combing grey hounds have desperately searched for him in the dense forests but RK was not found. Police stated officially that RK was not in their custody. Naxal sympathisers have said 11 Maoists were still in grey hounds custody and RK was one among them.
