Medaram turns megapolis

WGL MEDARAM Medaram, a little sleepy village, turned into a megapolis thanks to the annual jathara. Devotees in large numbers flock to this village by all possible transport right from bus, bike and car to bullock carts. When Mother Sammakka was installed on a high pedastal (gadde) in the form of a kunkum tin (kunkuma bharina) according to tribal tradition and the SP fired three shots into the air, symbolising the arrival of the goddess from Chilakagutta, the devotees suddenly became possessed and chants of Mother Sammakka and her daughter Saralamma rent the air. As this event is the climax of the jathara, thousands of devotees had a holy dip in the Jampanna vagu before a darshan of the goddesses. Speaker Madhusudhanachari, deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari, Endowments minister Indrakaran Reddy and former minister Saraiah offered special worship with families.
