Mehbooba becomes first woman CM of Kashmir

Mehbooba-MuftiMehbooba Mufti has sworn-in  today as the Chief Minister of trouble-torn border state of Jammu and Kashmir, thereby creating history by becoming the first woman to lead the state.

Nirmal Singh of BJP swears-in as the Deputy CM.

Mehbooba took 23 ministers which were part of the cabinet in her father’s rule but dropped three senior leaders- who have been opposing her from day one.

Interestingly none of the top BJP leaders have attended the ceremony. Narendra Modi, Rajnath Singh, Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj, Venkaiah Naidu all of them kept away for one reason or the other.

It appears BJP decided to go rather cautious since it is going on vigorously with the slogan-‘nationalism’ of late. This slogan will not get acceptance of Kashmiris and BJP has to toe a different line. BJP also wants to study Mehbooba’s handling of things and PDP’s approach towards nationalism.
