A new journey started in Hyderabad. Hyderabad Metro rail successfully passed its first test. Metro rail made the first engineering trial run of over one kilometer distance from Nagole to Survey of India. This testing is made on two tracks through six stations between Nagole-Survey of India. Two, three coach trains with slogans “A new journey begins…and we are proud of it” tested for one hour on opposite directions. Metro officials expressed happiness over this trail run.
Though Hyderabad Metro is slated to run with driverless technology, they made engineering testing with driver. This will be India’s first metro to run on the automated Communication Based Train Control System (CBTC) technology. CBTC technology successfully proven globally with 30 of the world’s largest metro rail systems. HMR planned to run a train in every two minutes in a particular direction.
The Hyderabad Metro Rail is scheduled to make operation between Nagole and Mettuguda by next Ugadi. “Metro need to test all the components in the train, including air-conditioning, signaling, track and alignment issues.” L&T sources said. The HMR project is considered to be the world’s largest project under public-private partnership with investment of over Rs 17,000 Crore. This project was inaugurated on 26 April 2012.
