The new version is most likely to replace the most unpopular version Windows 8, which has brought criticizes from the corners of the world for inefficiency to pronounce better in non-touch screens.
There were expectations that the Microsoft would announce Windows 9, but the company preferred to skip the version and named the latest as Windows 10.
The announcement was made in San Francisco on Tuesday.
On the occasion, Terry Myerson, Head, Operating Systems, said, “our greatest enterprise platform ever”.
“Windows 10 adapts to the devices customers are using, from Xbox to PCs and phones to tablets and tiny gadgets”, added Terry.
Microsoft had enjoyed monopoly in personal computing worldwide till some years back but the company now only holds 14% share in the personal computing, says research.
