NVSS Prabhakar, BJP MLA from Uppal has threatened to go on a fast-unto-death if the Pollution Control Board does not deal with the issue of dump yard at Jawaharnagar within a week. The MLA had earlier raised the issue several times claiming that the smell from the dump yard has made the life of the locales worst.
The MLA also lodged complaint with the Telangana State Pollution Control Board (TSPCB), informed the member secretary of the board Anil Kumar that he had lodged complaint in 2013 also but the action has not been taken so far.
The 300-acre dump yard has no capping. Adding to the plight, he Chengicherla slaughter house has been dumping about 30 tonnes of animal wastage illegally in the dump yard, instead of disposing it scientifically. The information has been provided by the task force team of the Board that inspected the area.
“This issue has been worsened due to apathy of the GHMC and PCB officials, now it has taken toll on the health of over-a-Lakh residents.
We would go on a fast unto death strike, if the board official fail to necessary action in a week’s time as promised”, said Mr. Prabhakar.
