In April 2014, M. Venkatapathi Raju who is 22-year-old developed a app ‘MMTS Live Status’ for his personal use. But he soon decided to publish the app for the benefit of the public and promoted it on social media. Till date, the app has been downloaded more than 3,000 times with an average of five to ten downloads per day.
Mr. Raju’s who is a technical member of CDK Global firm; disappointment with the existing app of the Railways laid the foundation for his project.
The youngster, who commutes daily in MMTS between his residence in Miyapur and office in Somajiguda said, “I tried downloading the existing app which has been outsourced by the Railways, but I felt it was very complex and did not have all the features I wanted”.
“I worked on my app for three weeks and started using it after which I published it for Windows phones for free of cost.”
The app features include tracking live running status of MMTS trains, time table searching, routes details and others. The app developer who is buoyed by the success, now wants to upgrade his app to the next level.
He further added, “I want to redesign the entire user experience of the app and make it compatible with IOS and other platforms in the coming days. I want to include a feature which would estimate the time to a particular destination. The other addition will be about getting information after tapping on a particular route”.
The techie is also drawing up plans to further market his product to ensure more number of commuters use his services,
