Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited the cyclone-hit Vizag. Unlike the tradition of an aerial survey and no announcements, PM Modi made a physical survey of Vizag city.
After landing at the Visakhapatnam airport in afternoon, Narendra Modi took a quick survey of the city and talked to the district officials on the situation and progress.
He later addressed the media and announced an interim relief of Rs. 1,000 Crore to Andhra Pradesh state.
During his address, he said, “Met department’s predictions were bang on target. The predictions of time, direction of the cyclone were precise. They helped minimize the losses”.
He further said, “If the state and the centre work together, the biggest of the crises can be tided over. AP and the Centre have worked in perfect tandem for the past five days. This was responsible in minimizing the losses”.
He said, “I have done aerial survey of Vizag and Odisha. We will stand by the government of AP in this hour of crisis”.
