Modi can speak in concerts, why not in Parliament: Rahul Gandhi

atms-banksNew Delhi, (IANS) Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi wasn’t speaking in Parliament on the demonetisation move despite opposition demands, though he has addressed a pop concert.

“Why is not the Prime Minister coming to Parliament? Why isn’t he coming to Parliament and speaking,” asked Gandhi.

“The Prime Minister can speak on TV, can speak at a pop concert, but why not in the Parliament,” asked Gandhi referring to Modi’s Saturday address at a Coldplay concert.

Gandhi’s remarks come on a day when Modi in an emotional speech before BJP MPs vehemently defended the demonetisation move, saying it was done for the benefit of the people.

Both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been witnessing continuous disruptions following sustained protests by the opposition over the demonetisation of 500 and 1,000 rupee currency notes announced by the government.
