Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered another tribute to the army over last month’s surgical strike across the Line of Control as he addressed a rally in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh on Tuesday. But in the process, he obliquely equated India’s valour with Israel, a reference that is bound to add salt to the already-frowning Muslim community.
In his first visit to Himachal Pradesh after assuming office more than two years ago, Prime Minister said the world is talking about the bravery of the Indian Army following India’s surgical strikes against Pakistani terrorists last month.
“The world is now talking about our Army. We used to hear about similar feats of the Israeli army. But now everyone knows Indian Army is no less,” PM Modi said while addressing a Parivartan Rally in the poll-bound state’s Mandi district.
Himachal goes to polls next year along with Gujarat.
“ I had spoken here about OROP when I came here to campaign. Today in this “veerbhumi”, I can say that this right of yours have been given. One Rank One Pension was hanging for 40 yrs, and it is our govt which completed that work. Not only soldiers but their families bless me. And it makes me want to do more work for them, more work for our soldiers” he said.
