“Some people grew old but not wise..Their ability to understand does not increase..” was the veiled attack on Rahul Gandhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added: “Some people suffer with inferiority complexion and that’s why repeated interruptions in parliament”.
In his reply to the discussion on motion of thanks to the President’s address, Modi launched a scathing attack on Rahul ,who took potshots against the government yesterday. Modi said- “Had the Congress helped Congress in its 60-year-rule? If it is done, then there is no need to launch MNREGA at all”
He futher averred that “we make our image as that of a beggar in front of the world,” quoting former prime minister Indira Gandhi’s speech at IP college in 1974.
“Why do you mock at Make In India programme? We are cleaning up the garbage heap of 60 years..”
The real sufferers of interruptions in Parliament are people and not the MPs. Public issues will take back seat if we resort to it. These are not my words but the words of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi” Modi remarked.
He made some suggestions like- let us allow our women members alone speak on March 8, World Women’s Day; allow for full one week , our first MPs to speak and allow a discussion on sustainable development, thereby, countering that Opposition stalling parliament sessions for non-issues.
