Modi govt firm on land bill

TH11_POSCO_778370fThe NDA government is firm on the land bill and brought an ordinance on it for a third time as the entire Opposition jointly rejected in the Rajya Sabha each time it came to the Upper House earlier. The ruling party has no numbers in the RS. President Paranab Mukherjee gave his assent to the ordinance on land acquisition for a third time today. The earlier ordinance lapses on June 3. The Modi Cabinet met on Saturday and decided for the ordinance. Though the land bill with 10 official amendments got through the Lok Sabha, the ruling party failed in Rahya Sabha as it has no strength. The Parliament sessions were held only for land bill but the ordinance did not get through the RS a second time as the entire Opposition rejected it. In view of this a Parliamentary panel with 30 members was appointed.
