Modi will stay in Frankfurt, Germany today and will reach New York on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion, Modi said that United States is a ‘vital partner’ of India and he also termed that his visit to US will mark a ‘new chapter’ in bilateral strategic ties.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the 69th US General Assembly during his visit along with number of other engagements. His other engagements include meeting with Indo-American business community, expatriate Indians, representatives of civil societies, Governors of three American states and mayors of the major U.S. cities in New York.
Modi will be the guest of Barack Obama in his official guest house in Washington.
Modi took off on a special Air India plane. In his statement released just before the take-off, Modi said, “I will discuss with President Obama how we can use the strength of all that we share and all that we have built so far to take our relationship to a new level in the interest of our two countries and the cause of this world. I am confident that the visit will mark the start of a new chapter in our strategic partnership”.
