Monsoon will be the lowest in last four years: IMD

The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted a below normal monsoon, lowest in the last four years. Though by percentage it is expected to be just 5% lower, it could vary from region to region as the El Nino effect intensifies further and further in June and July. Northwest India could be worst hit as it may see upto or lower than 85% rain. The government so far has not released any concrete contingency plans, though it has been made aware of the situation.
