Monsoons as scheduled: Met

downloadMonsoons this year will be as scheduled. The southwest monsoons will hit the State on June 1, according to Met office. But the rain fall will be slightly less than last year. But due to el Niño factor the rain fall may come down, say officers of Met. The Centre is planning to reduce such a loss due to low rainfall. Insurance cover to farmers along with emergency plan will be implemented in 580 districts wherein low rain fall is recorded. On the other agriculture ministry is trying to create schemes among farmers the need to show interest for insurance cover. Southwest monsoons are responsible for kharif crops. In case less of rain fall it is planning to estimate the steps to be taken in advance. States are also told to prepare contingency plants in case of low rain fall. Officers have already started some urgent steps in districts according to local needs. On 15, the Indian met office will announce the southwest monsoons travel and forecast.
