Daggubati Rama Naidu has been the most appreciated producers of Telugu films all the way cinema made transition from black and white to color films. He is given the title of ‘Movie Mogul’ for his commendable work but unfortunately he left us on Wednesday, February 18, 2015.
Rama Naidu was conferred with awards like Dadasaheb Phalke award and Padma Bhushan. He also got an honorary doctorate from Sri Venkateswara University. He also has a record registered to his name in Guinness Book of World Records. He was born in an agricultural family in 1936 in Ongole. He was 79-year-old. He started his career as a business man and set up a Tobacco industry. He then shifted to Chennai as he was interested in film business.
His first produced film under his banner Suresh Production was NTR starrer ‘Ramudu Bheemudu’. His production house is now managed by his elder son Suresh Babu. His younger son Venkatesh and grandchildren Rana Daggubati, Naga Chaitanya are renowned actors.
In the last 50 years of his career, Rama Naidu produced many successful films in different language including Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Oriya, English and Punjabi. He is also the founder of Ramanaidu Film School in 2008.
