Parthiv also made 35 runs. Still the middle order could not add up any more runs. With high hopes on Pandya, Rohith Sharma, Rayudu returned to the pavilion early.

Dane Smith was duck out in Malinga bowling. Another opener Mike Hassi also returned to the pavilion early after 16 runs show. The middle order batsmen Faf du Plessis and Suresh Raina failed in their attempt to put the innings on the track. Raina at 25 run score was caught in Harbajan’s bowling and captain Dhoni fell leg-before for a duck out in the first ball itself.  Chennai tasted defeat after Bravo, Negi, Ravindra Jadeja also failed with 162 runs in 19 overs. While Malinga claimed three wickets in Mumbai overs, Harbajan and Vinay Kumar took two wickets each. Suchith, Mec Lagahan also got a wicket each. Polard received the man of the match award.
