N. Laxminarayana Mudiraj the former MLA, Freedom Fighter and former Mayor of Hyderabad passed away today at the age of 86.
Mudiraj entered public life in 1954. He was councilor in Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad for ten years from 1960 to 1970. He was also leader of Municipal Congress party for two years from 1967 to 1969.
He was in the forefront during Telangana movement of 1969-70. He as a Mayor laid the foundation stone of Telangana Martyr Memorial at Gun Park under stringent prohibitory orders and was arrested and remanded to Jail.
In 1972 he was elected as Congress MLA from Maharaj Gunj City Assembly Constituency. He was also general secretary of AP Timber Merchants Federation and Member of Federation of AP Chamber of Commerce Industry for several years.
N. Uttam Kumar Reddy the TPCC president and Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu the working president expressed their deep condolences on the sudden demise of N. Laxminarayana Mudiraj.
