Naidu-Promises-Kapu-ReservaAt a time when the issue of Kapu reservation is rocking the state, AP government has promised on the floor of the House that it is committed for providing reservations
The budget session of Andhra Pradesh Assembly began today with Governor Narsimhan addressing the joint sessions of legislative council and legislative assembly. Governor in his speech said that his government was committed to provide reservations to the Kapu, Balija, , Ontari and Telega communities without hurting the interests of BC’s. A Commission with Justice Manjunatha as its head was appointed for making recommendations, he said. The governor was hopeful that the commission would submit its report within eight months. Governor further clarified that for the first time in the history a Kapu corporation has been setup to support income generating activities for poor families among Kapu, Balija, Ontari and Telega communities. Rs 1000 crores will be spent for this purpose in the next fiscal alone, he said. The salient features in governor’s speech are:

The growth rate for the next financial year is 15%
National status given to Polavaram Project by central government
State suffered a lot due to natural calamities last year
Preparing Action plans for recharging of underground water

Government is committed for the SC/ST subplan
Biometric systems in Hostels
Monthly pensions through NTR BHAROSA
Government is committed to the Women security and empowerment
RS.500 Crores to be spent on skill development
Insurance to every family
Converting AP into Knowledge hub
2 lakh houses to be constructed under NTR housing scheme
No power cuts, 24×7 supply ensured
LED bulbs were distributed to save power
5 airports to be constructed in the state
Road connectivity from all the district headquartes to Amaravathi
Agreements were made for the investments of worth Rs. 4 lakh crores
Every house gets a cylinder by 2017
