One of the venerated serious actors of Bollywood, Nana Patekar is angry over the system that allows extended paroles to persons like Sanjay Dutt who are accused of serious crimes. “I have never acted with him in the last twenty years, will not in the future, neither will see his movies,” he said showing clear displeasure.
He went on to question the public and governments together saying, “you see his movies, you make him a hero, now you are asking questions about him being released, where is your responsibility…?” “Our views are not valued enough, I am an actor, but I am also a regular citizen of this country,” he said.
Sanjay Dutt, convicted of aiding terrorists during 1993, in, out and again inside the jail, has been out of jail for the last 120 days or so, getting three parole extensions. The Bombay High Court has recently asked the explanation of Maharashtra government on the issue.
