Naseeruddin Shah might have done it just to draw attention to his upcoming release “Dedh Ishqiya”, but he is sure making enemies all around with his remarks on “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”. Naseer rubbished the film and it’s lead actor Farhaan Akhtar’s acting in it few day ago. He said Farhan did not look a bit like Milkha and muscle building cannot be called good acting. Shah went ahead and said, “It is a completely fake film. Farhan has no doubt worked very hard, but building up muscles and growing your hair is not exactly working hard on your acting. At least he should have tried to look like Milkha…”
Though Farhan himself stayed away from saying any thing, actors associated with the film, Pawan Malhotra, Divya Dutta have already defended the film quite strongly. critics like Komal Nahta, other filmmakers like Sudhir Mishra too supported the film.
Now actress Shabana Azmi, who has worked alot with Naseer earlier has come out and openly opposed her earlier colleague’s views. She said, “Farhan was outstanding in ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. His performance gave me gooseflesh. He has raised the bar for what actors should demand from them while portraying real-life characters. Naseer is entitled to his opinion. But most Indians don’t agree with him.”
Prasoon Joshi, who wrote the film said, “I respect Naseer saab and he’s entitled to his opinion. But I don’t agree with his opinion on BMB. I’ve written the film. It has inspired and connected with people all across the world. It was not meant to be a documentary or a niche film.”
While Milkha Singh and his son Jeev Milkha Singh also were mighty pleased with the movie, Naseer’s criticism, coming so many days after the film’s release, seem unwelcome and unwarranted.
