The another pet-project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ or Clean India Mission has been launched today on the occasion of the 145th birth anniversary of the ‘father of the nation’ Mahatma Gandhi.
The ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ is an attempt to raise awareness of cleanliness and better sanitation in the citizens of India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the ‘cleanliness’ pledge and also administered to 30 Lakh government employees across the country.
Modi has also invited 9 people to take this mission to the next level and create awareness. Those who got Modi’s call are Mridula Sinha ji, Sachin Tendulkar, Ramdev, Salman Khan, Kamal Haasan, Shashi Tharoor, Priyanka Chopra, Anil Ambani and team of Tarak Mehta Ka Oolta Chashma.
Speaking at the launching event, Modi told, “Mahatma Gandhi gave us the message quit India, clean India. Bapu’s dream of a clean India is still unfulfilled. Swachh Bharat campaign logo is not just a logo. It is as if Gandhiji is watching us, asking as when will we clean India?”.
Modi added, “I would like to congratulate those who worked for this programme earlier. They must have been in different forms and with different names but the initiative was to ensure a clean India”.
