Nation remembers JRD Tata

01-300x225Nation celebrates the birthday of Jahangir Ratanji Dadabhai Tata today with éclat for many reasons. He built a powerful industrial empire with sheer diligence and innovation and took the credit of doing a solo flight from Karachi at a tender age as he had great craze for flying aircraft. He is referred to as the father of the Indian aviation industry. Later, it was modified as Air India. Under his captaincy the empire spread to steel, power, chemicals, automobiles and so on only to lift the fame of his motherland across the globe no matter how many competitors came in his way. His great quality was not to bribe politicians as he was humane by nature. Tata Institute of Social Sciences and Tata Memorial Centre for Cancer Research were set up by him with a view to serving his fellow citizens. He rose to such an extent that Tata and India were clubbed together abroad. His father was Indian while his mother was French. In recognition of his services he was awarded Bharat Ratna. After leading a qualitative life he breathed his last on November 29, 1993 at the age of 89.  Nation pays rich tributes to him for his tireless services.
