Navodaya Schools Exclusively for Minorities of the State

Mukhtar-Abbas-NaqviOn Friday the Telangana state government urged the Centre to sanction Navodaya schools exclusively for minorities of the state.

At Tourism Bhavan in the city, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi who is the minister of state for minority affairs discussed the matter mean while Telangana deputy chief minister Mahmood Ali and M.J. Akbar, director of minority welfare informed the minister that younger generation of minorities in the state was eager to compete with other sections of people of society.

Deputy CM said to the Union minister that their government is prepared to provide suitable lands as well as financial contribution to set up Navodaya schools as a majority of the students from the minority community are demanding residential schools on the lines of schools to SC and STs.

Coming to the -metric scholarships Mahmood Ali informed that the minority welfare department has received 1.14 lakh applications from students, which exceeds the sanctioned quota of 60,000 and requested Mr. Naqvi to release the funds for the remaining applications.
