As soon as the 15-year long tie-up between the two parties ended on Thursday, the Congress alleged Nationalist Congress Party for betraying it to shake hands with the BJP.
Congress spokesperson Ajay Maken said, “This is not surprising for us because we knew that over the past one and half to two months, NCP has been trying to get close to the BJP. We were prepared for this and we were already shortlisting candidates for all seats”.
“Congress is the only party in Maharashtra, which can give honest leadership, has presence in all regions of state and has state leadership with experience in administration. No other party has all the three qualities”, Ajay added further.
Anyhow, later on the day, BJP denied any sort of ‘match-fixing’ with NCP and announced not to join hands with NCP either pre-poll or post-poll.
