The Nepal prime minister K.P. Sharma Oli, his lady Radhika Sakya and the other delegates were accorded a red carpet welcome. After offering tributes to Mahatma Gandhi, Oli met with the External affairs minister Sushma Swaraj at the Hyderabad House and later conferred with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Oli said that his prime intention of visiting India was to clear certain misunderstandings between the two countries.
India and Nepal inked nine agreements. India offered Rs. 1700 crore aid to the earth quake victims of Nepal. Both the countries agreed to develop the Indo-Nepal highways and the construction of 7000 megawatts combined Hydro electric project.
