Many political and social leaders expressed solidarity to the students of UoH in the hour of their crisis. The CPM leader Sitaram Achuri who visited the campus of the UoH spoke to the students and inquired about Rohit’s suicide. He met Rohit’s family members and condoled the death. He assured his support to the students’ movement.
The social scientist Kanche Ilaiah condemning caste discrimination in the centre of learning, accused the hegemony of the upper castes in the universities. He demanded radical changes in the higher courses of education. He said action be taken against the vc and the ministers responsible for Rohit’s death.
Social writer and poet Jayaraj paid tributes to Rohit as a true heir of Ambedkar. He demanded an end to caste politics in the campus.
The YCP leader Jagan also demanded stringent action against those responsible for Rohit’s suicide. He wanted an end to political interference in the universities.
Meanwhile the students who were suspended, said that they would continue their stir till the suspension orders are revoked. They accused that they were suspended and harassed because they were dalits.
