The state government of Telangana on Thursday released the new set of rules for land acquisition for public purposes. Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Rules, 2014, has been issued and is open for objections and suggestions within 15 days.
The new set of rules proposes to set up district and state committees for settlement of compensation claims. It also proposes that Land acquisition should not exceed 15 per cent of the net present cultivable area in the state; districts limits will be set by collectors. The land that is not utilised for five years will be returned to the original owner.
