New Road safety Act to be circulated for review in October

roadThe Road Transport and Safety Bill, which aims at developing India road transport in the lines of international standards is likely to be circulated later this month.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is drafting the bill and is likely to be circulated to all other concerned ministries for a review by this month end.

The bill will replace the Central Motor vehicles Act.

An official from the Ministry said, “government is currently receiving suggestions and queries from various stakeholders regarding the proposed bill”.

The new bill will set the standards that of the US, Canada, Singapore, Japan, Germany and the UK.

The official added, “Since we are receiving more queries about current central motor vehicles rules more than the suggestions on the proposed bill, we can go ahead with the drafting of Cabinet note and can also circulate it by the end of this month”.
