The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved an intra State transmission system in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Rajasthan at a cost of Rs 8548.68 crore with National Clean Energy Fund contributing Rs 3419.47 crore (40 percent). New grid sub-stations (48) with transformation capacity of 17100 MVA (Mega Volt Ampere) by installing over 7800 ckt-kms (Circuit Kilometers) of transmission lines in seven States. The project will be completed in five years.
The cost is proposed to be met by KfW loan (40 percent), NCEF grant (40 percent) and 20 percent as State contribution. The transmission system will facilitate evacuation of renewable power from generation stations to load centres.
