No Caste Dimension In UoH Issue

SMIRITI ROHITH The HRD minister Smruti Irani clarified in Delhi on Wednesday that there was no caste factor in the recent happenings at the campus. She said that it was not a dalits and non dalits issue at all. Expressing anguish over Rohit’s suicide Ms. Irani gave a day by day account of the happenings.

 

 

  •  August 4: Sushil Kumar’s mother approached high court after her son was attacked.
  •  August 3 and 4: FIR was filed on Rohit.
  •  The University appointed a committee on the orders of the high court.
  •  University initiated action against the five students including Rohit on the recommendations of the committee.
  •  Rohit did not mention any names in his suicide note.
  •  The high court refused to give stay order on the punishment of the students.
  •  Centre did not interfere in the matter.
  •  Some people wantonly made this a political issue.
  •  The Congress MP V.H. Hanumantha Rao also wrote a letter on land grabbing and other disputes in the university. He also wrote a letter on the seven suicides in universities.
  •  Law and Order is a state subject.
