Chief Minister of Telangana K Chandrasekhara Rao on Wednesday said that government is not in a mood to allow chicken import from USA as it may endanger the poultry industry in India. He alleged that some influential traders are attempting to receive permission on import of chicken legs from USA.
Chandrasekhara Rao was speaking at the two-day 8th Annual Poultry Exhibition which begins in Hyderabad today.
“I heard that they consume only wing portion of the chicken. We are ready to export wings to USA from India,” said KCR.
He further requested the Centre to intervene in the matter. He said that the poultry units have been accorded as a sector within agricultural industry by the Telangana government. He urged the Centre to take a similar step across the nation.
