No Convincing Slump in Road Accidents

Road-AccidentsIn every year lakhs of accidents cases against traffic rule violators. As many as 2,303 miseries were reported till November 2014, against the 2,294 accidents reported in 2013. Except drunken driving no other violation is seriously dealt with by the police.

Road safety expert P. Suresh Raju said

“Organisations like Credit Information Bureau Ltd is given data about traffic violators, they can use it for fixing loan eligibility. A bank should verify the CIBIL record on a person’s traffic violations.” Another policy is to cancel the driving licence of the repeat offender.

A.V. Ranganath, DCP-2 of traffic police said “We are now dwelling a database to track repeat culprits. A driver with a certain number of traffic violations will lose his driving licence, In drunk driving cases, we have already cancelled a few licenses”.
