Union Minister of State for Public Grievances Jitendra Singh has
written to all chief ministers to abolish interviews for recruitment
to lower posts. The objective is to discontinue interviews for
recruitment to junior level posts where personality or skill
assessment is not required. Further, it will curb corruption, ensure
selection transparently and ease the problems of poor aspirants. This will also give more weightage to the merit and supplement government’s resolve for “Maximum Governance, Minimum Government”. Group ‘B’ (non-gazetted) and Group ‘C’ (non-technical) posts have already been
identified for selections through a competitive test without interviews. This is a major step towards achieving the goal of citizen-centric transparent governance, he said.
