There are speculations that Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose may be awarded with the highest civilian award of the nation, along with Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Kanshi Ram and others. The buzz took the centre stage after Home Ministry placed order for 5 Bharat Ratna Medallions.
Resoponding to the speculations, the family members of Netaji disapproved the idea and demanded to solve the missing mystery of the freedom fighter first.
Netaji’s grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose told PTI that, “Netaji has been missing since 1945. When you award him with Bharat Ratna posthumously, you have to say when he died, but where is the evidence? The best way to honour him is to declassify government files which can reveal the truth behind his disappearance”.
He also informed that he did speak to about 60 family members of Netaji and all of them have rejected the idea to receive the award on his behalf.
“All of us feel that Bharat Ratna is not the appropriate award for him. None of us will go and accept the award,” Bose said.
A letter was recently written to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to form a SIT under the guidance of sitting judge of the Supreme Court to investigate on the missing mystery of Netaji.
