Notification issued for Maha poll; voting on Oct 15, counting on 19

elecThe bugle for the Maharashtra Assembly polls has been sounded officially today as the poll authority issued the notification for October 15.

The by-election for Beed Lok Sabha constituency will also be held on the same day. The seat went vacant after the demise of BJP leader Gopinath Munde.

The Chief Electoral Office official said, “From today, the election process has begun with filing of nominations”.

8.28 voters are eligible for the Assembly elections in Maharashtra. September 27 is the last date for filing nominations and October 1 is the deadline to withdraw.

The counting will be held on October 19 while the term for the current assembly ends on November 8.

29 seats have been reserved for SC while 25 for ST candidates.

Election will be conducted through electronic voting machines and NOTA (None of the Above) option will be available this time also.

VVPAT (verifiable paper audit trail) will also be equipped in 13 assembly constituencies. The system enables voters to verify if their vote has been cast correctly.
