A Marathi filmmaker has announced that he will soon make a biopic on the life of anti corruption activist, Jan Lokpal proponent Anna Hazare. The septugenarian gandhian social activist has already given his consent to the film, said filmmaker Shashank Udapurkar.
“It took me long to complete the script on Anna. I had drafted seven scripts before finalising it, since it is a mammoth task to present 75 years of his life in a two and half hour film,” Marathi actor-turned-director Shashank said. “I want the film to inspire not only Indians but also people from all over the world. I want them to know how a man hailing from a small village could became a national hero with ethics, simplicity as well as love for country and mankind,” the filmmaker added.
The film will be shot on location in Ralegaon Sidhdhi – Hazare’s birth place, Delhi, Mumbai, Rajasthan, Kashmir and several other places. The film will begin shoot after the summer. Filmmaker Shashank is not new to biopics, as his about to release film is also one, based on the life of Maratha strongman Shivaji’s son Sambhaji Raje.
The Hazare film by all probability will end with the Ramlila Maidan episode, the high point of anti corruption movement, but how much of Arvind Kejriwal, Baba Ramdev, Kiran Bedi or others’ characters will it cover, will be big point of curiosity!
