For those concerned with call costs and confused with frequently changing talk time offers, social media service facebook is offering an alternative, free of cost! Facebook users can now make voice calls through Facebook Messenger that cost nothing more than the data costs consumer uses up.
The new feature of Facebook Messenger offers a ‘Free Call’ option in the chat window’s menu button on Android and ‘I’ button on iPhone. Through the option, users can make free voice calls to other users on the social network. The feature is being offered on both iOS and Android mobile phones. App works on 3G as well as Wi-Fi networks.
Users can utilise the app and won’t incur any charges other than paying for data (or use up data credit if they subscribe to a plan).
On Android devices, an incoming call shows up like a normal phone call with the calling party’s full screen picture. On an iPhone, the call is denoted by a push notification. Calling is possible if only the users have a facebook account and fb Messenger app is installed on their mobile phone. The app currently is not on offer on the web version of Facebook Messenger.
