On Friday, at Nizamabad T. Harish Rao who is Minister for major irrigation said NRIs to involve in Mission Kakatiya, a flagship program of the Telangana government, by adopting their villages and water tanks.
Minister told the tanks would be named after the loved ones of the NRI who adopt them. He said that-Tanks’ restoration would provide water agriculture besides improving ground water at Zilla Parishad and people from Nizamabad, who have settled in western and Gulf countries came forward for the cause and added that 46,531 water tanks across the state will be restored in phased manner.
“20%of total tanks will be restored by May 31, 2015 in 1st phase .By storing 265 tmc water 26 lakh acres will be irrigated “he said.
Mr Rao warned that-stern action is taken if any irregularities were found and said the government will provide equipment and sufficient funds required for Mission Kakatiya.
