The Supreme Court made it clear on Thursday the odd and even number rule being implemented by the AAP government of Delhi on experimental basis would continue. Disposing of a petition filed by a lawyer the chief justice T.S. Thakur said that pollution reached enormous levels in Delhi and hence the citizens should support the practice of allowing the odd numbered cars and even numbered cars on alternate days on the roads. Though VIPS are exempted from this rule, Justice Thakur attends the court in car pooling.
The lawyer in his petition argued that people are put to difficulties due to lack of sufficient buses, cabs and autos in the city and moreover even after the introduction of the odd-even rule there is no decrease in the levels of pollution.
