Odisha government managed to evacuate 17,000 people from five districts Jajpur, Cuttack, Sambalpur, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, even as 23 people have died so far in rain and flood-related incidents. Most of the casualties recorded due to drowning and wall collapse.
Odisha government officials arranging free kitchens set up to provide the flood victims cooked food.
Another side Baitarani also rising at Akhuapada in in Jajpur district, has affected around 50,000 people in the district where over 2,000 persons have been evacuated to relief centres from marooned villages.
