Old Acts suppress women: HC

Muslims polygamy marriage system saying that it was an age-old
practice which allows more than two wives in their religion but such a
rule is not suitable in the modern society as it will push the women
to the wall. However, the court struck down a petition by a Muslim
woman who challenged her husband’s second marriage. The court observed
that the accused man committed no mistake as per the Muslim personal
law board Acts. But the court earlier suggested that time is ripe for
Muslim leaders and maulwys to review the issue threadbare.
