Only 55,000 engineering aspirants have exercised their options by the end of counselling on Monday, leaving 30,000 seats vacant in the engineering colleges in Telangana, says education officials.
174 engineering colleges have already been closed eliminating about 1 Lakh seats in the state. There were 85,455 seats remaining after this move.
“Consolidated numbers haven’t come yet, but about 55,000 students have registered and exercised options”, said Dr K. Raghunath, chief camp officer, Eamcet.
Meanwhile, the High Court on Mondaydirected JNTUH to send the list of colleges satisfying the faculty norms, which has not been sent yet. Sources said that the university is thinking of challenging the single judge order in a division bench of the High Court.
