Opposition weakens as President satisfied with Governor’s sacking

Kamla_Beniwal_PTI_360The Congress alleged ‘vendetta politics’ stand on the government’s sacking of Mizoram governor Kamla Beniwal went off weak today as the President Pranab Mukherjee made himself satisfied with the government’s evidence against her.

The top government sources reported that Mr. Mukherjee has replied in a hand written response that he was ‘satisfied’ with the government’s evidence. The source says that the President was well-versed about the Centre’s intention by Prime Minister Modi. He has been sent a record when he asked for the evidence against Ms. Beniwal.

The source says that the main charge against Ms Beniwal is involving in a land scam in Rajasthan. She is accused of claiming cheap land after falsely stating in a sworn statement in 2012 that she had tilled the land for 14 to 16 hours a day for 50 years.

The other accusation is that she has spent only one day in Mizoram while she has been posted for 1 year. The third charge is that the sacked Governor, when she was deputed for Gujarat, has frequently used the state aircraft to visit Jaipur. She went to Jaipur in a nine-seat aircraft 53 times.
